Effective date: October 15, 2026. This notice applies specifically to the Chrome extension Money Terms Explained by Nevlin, version 0.2.1.

What the extension does

The extension explains financial terms using a bundled offline glossary. When you choose “Explain terms on this page,” it reads eligible text in the current page, matches it against the glossary, and adds removable highlights and definition cards. The popup can also search the glossary without scanning a page.

Information processed on your device

The extension temporarily accesses the active tab's identifier and URL to check whether the page can be scanned and to run its bundled scripts. It processes readable page text locally to find supported terms. Text on a page may include personal information, depending on the page you choose to scan. The extension skips form fields and editable content. Glossary search queries are processed locally.

The extension does not send page text, page URLs, browsing history, or search queries to Nevlin or another server. It does not build a browsing-history record, use an analytics SDK, require an account, or store these inputs in extension storage. Page highlights and related state exist in the page's memory until removed or the page is closed or reloaded. Popup search state is temporary.

Permissions

activeTab provides temporary access to the tab you invoke the extension on. scripting lets the extension insert its bundled matching and explanation code after your action. It does not request persistent access to all websites or download remote executable code.

Opening a Nevlin course link or a definition source link navigates to an external website. Nevlin course links include the campaign identifiers chrome_extension, referral, and money_terms, together with a glossary term identifier. They do not include the original article's URL or text. External sites receive ordinary web requests when you visit them and apply their own privacy policies. Nevlin's website privacy policy is available at legal.nevlin.com/privacy.

Use and sharing

Locally processed page content and tab information are used only to provide the requested explanations. The extension does not sell or transfer this information, use it for advertising or profiling, or use it to assess creditworthiness or make lending decisions. Its use of this information is limited to its stated function, consistent with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and Limited Use requirements.

Your controls

You choose whether to scan a page. Use “Remove page highlights” to remove the extension's highlights, or refresh or close the page. Close the popup to discard its current search state. You can disable or uninstall the extension in Chrome's extension settings. There is no extension account or server-side browsing record to delete.

Support and updates

For questions, contact support@nevlin.com. If you contact support, the message and contact details you choose to provide are handled through Nevlin's support service under the website privacy policy; avoid sending sensitive financial or account information.
